Very good essay. I have purchased one book you are reading and wonder if you have read Alcott’s ‘An Old Fashioned Girl’. It was a favorite of mine along with ‘Eight Cousins’.
Beautifully written. Your reading and quotes touched on many of the things I have been contemplating over the year. The idea that stands out the most is as much as we think our times and life experience is unique, when we read the literature of the past, it is obvious the even though the trappings of life look and feel different from the past, we are actually having much the same experience. (Not enough time, not enough money, etc.) I will definitely be adding most of the titles to my reading list.
