The hills around my farmhouse are putting on their glorious October show. ๐ One day a certain tree might only have a blush of red in its upper branches - and the next itโs scarlet all over!
The shifting palette of fall hues is already so magical, but when the sun comes out to add a little extra pigment here or there, the scene is other-worldly in its loveliness.
Donโt those golden leaves look lit from within? Maybe thatโs secretly a Mallorn tree. Itโs such a delight to constantly catch glimpses out the window of the colorful leaves flying and dancing in the wind. ๐
The real art is happening outdoors, but I have been putting up some indoor autumnal decor and pumpkins as well. Hereโs Cymbeline with the latest โNeko Neko Postโ package - I talked about this Japanese stationery subscription in my September Reading Vlog. That fall tree card with the kitty is so beautiful!
Another thing I mentioned in my last reading vlog was meeting up with my booktube friend Kate Howe. We had such a fun time, we decided to do it again with an October/Victober/Boo to You Readathon fall tea party at my farmhouse!
It was such a lovely way to celebrate autumn and fun to swap notes on what weโve been reading. Iโve really been enjoying The Heir of Redclyffe by Charlotte Mary Yong - such a great slice of life, and the characters are all so well-drawn and engaging. Iโm also making progress in My Cousin Rachel by Daphne du Maurier, which is our Bookish Kingdom book club pick for this month! Itโs very suspenseful and spooky and seasonalโฆI think Iโve changed my mind about Rachel three or four times already, and Iโm only a third of the way through the book. ๐
Hereโs a little sneak peek of the thumbnail for one of the videos we filmed - can you guess what the topic will be? If you think a in-person bookish meet up sounds fun, hopefully youโll be able to join us for one this spring! Kate and I are planning a joint booktuber/subscriber meet up in April or May in the Northeastern U.S. If youโd be interested in coming, send me an email (emma@bookishprincess.com), and weโll send you more details as theyโre decided!
Hereโs a look at my finished terrariums! This was such a fun Victober craft to do with Kate. Terrariums apparently trace their origin to Victorian times when they were called โWardian casesโ and used to transport plants across the globe.
It will be fun to have some indoor plants to care for as the outdoor plants fade, but my garden is still putting out a few blooms. I canโt believe how happy my dahlias have been this season. ๐ผ Hope youโve all been having a wonderful October so far!
Beautiful blog. Love the terrariums. Happy Autumn
I love what you are doing with your blog. (Is that the right word for it?) Itโs like letter a Jane Austen character might write, minus the comments about eligible bachelors, and disagreeable relatives, about whatโs going on at the farmhouse and what you have been up to. :) The photos are wonderful and I enjoy your writing style. A Bookish Kingdom meet-up sounds like so much fun!
