It was exactly one year ago today that a certain kitten unexpectedly appeared in the tree hollow outside my farmhouse! From her storybook arrival to her ever-undaunted personality to my own cluelessness about cats, there was a lot of great material there…which is why I decided it would be the perfect opportunity to try something new, to chase down a fiction idea until it was finished.
I first mentioned this writing project during the morning routine video I posted earlier this spring. Back in May I remember thinking I had plenty of time to get it finished before September…then I blinked and it was the middle of August, lol. However, I have been chipping away at it, and I’m happy to announce that The Book of Cymbeline: A Kitten’s Tale from Summer to Fall will be available as an ebook via Amazon Kindle in just two weeks on Friday, September 16. I can’t wait to share it with you all! **Edit to add: the ebook is now out!! 😸🎉 Click here to get your copy!
The tale is a quick and charming read, just under 7,000 words with about a dozen illustrations. It’s around the length of a children’s book - longer than a picture book but shorter than a chapter book - and while I think children will love it, it’s written to delight readers of any age, especially cat lovers!
Cymbeline had such an independent, fearless and fierce little spirit - even back when her eyes were still blue and she was only about six inches long - and it was so much fun to channel that throughout the story. She arrived just when summer was turning to fall, and the tale should be a wonderful seasonal read! In fact, I’m hoping to continue the story with the seasons in future installments.
